MAUI
The island of Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands at 727 square miles. It is the largest island in Maui County.The other islands comprising the county are Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Molokai. The island has the third largest e behind the islands of Oahu and Hawaii. Kahului
Kahului is the largest town on Maui and is located along the north shore of central Maui. Kahului hosts Maui's main airport, Kahului Airport, harbor, light industrial areas, and commercial shopping centers.
Kahului is the retail center for Maui. There are several malls and major stores including department stores in the Queen Kaahumanu Center. other significant groupings of stores are in Lāhaināsuch as the Lahina Cannery Mall, the Happy Valley area of Wailuku, Maui Market Place and Mall
Although Kahului is not a tourist destination it is the home of Alexander and Baldwin Sugar Museum, Kanaha Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary, Kanaha Beach County Park, and the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
Kapalua
Kapalua Bay is a beautiful stretch of coast of the west side of Maui. From this area are spectacular views of Molokai and Lanai.
Kapalua Bay has received many honors. It has been voted the "Best Beach in the World" by the readers of Conde Nast Magazine, "America's #1 Beach" on the very first annual list of Dr. Beach's Top 20 Beaches in America, and the "Best Beach in America" by The Travel Channel, among other honors.
Kihei
Kihei is home to some of the most beautiful beaches on Maui. With an annual rainfall of less than 12 inches it seems like every day is a sunny one. The climate on this part of the island is stable and hardly fluctuates between winter and summer.
Lahaina
Otherwise known as the Royal Capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom". Much of the activity in Lahaina takes place along Front Street, which dates back to the 1820s. It is lined with shops and restaurants. This is the center of tourism on Maui.
Kahana
This area is similar to lahaina but on a much smaller scale. The shops and restaurants are busy without seeming crowded. The beaches are equally beautiful without being overrun with people. Close to everything but not too close.
Wailea
This is where you will find most of Mauis resorts. Well groomed golf courses and tennis courts seem to be everywhere. The roads leading into Wailea are landscaped to a meticulous degree.
